The Young Voices Choir

On Wednesday 5 February, the Senior Choir traveled to The O2 Arena to take part in the Young Voices Concert. The pupils practiced their songs and dance moves for many weeks and this was the night of their BIG performance! They were joined on the stage by a mass choir of 8,849 children. They spent the afternoon hard at work, rehearsing with the Young Voices band, guest artists and the street dance group Urban Strides.

The show began at 7pm and the Senior Choir opened with ‘Best of the West’, a mash up of songs from musicals such as, Oklahoma and Calamity Jane. Other favourites included ‘Frightfest’, a medley of everything from Ghostbusters theme tune to the Monster Mash and Little Shop of Horrors, complete with spooky dance moves! The pupils also thoroughly enjoyed performing the African song, ‘Kusimama’ and finally raised the roof with a rousing Queen medley.

Guest singers this year included The Voice 2018 winner Ruti, the country band The Shires, and former Spandau Ballet frontman Tony Hadley. It was a fantastic evening of song and dance. The Senior Choir performed with great enthusiasm!

Head of Preparatory Division, Mr Moulton was delighted to hear so many positive comments about the Young Voices Concert. The pupils behaved impeccably and the atmosphere was wonderful. A great time was head by all, especially Mrs McCartney, Mrs Franks, Miss Wright and Miss Allen, who all returned to school on Thursday with huge smiles on their faces. Thank you to Mrs McCartney for leading the Senior Choir and for organising this wonderful opportunity.
