Charities supported by New Hall

Alzheimer’s Society

In 2018/2019 the School raised a total of £9368.15 for the Alzheimer’s Society.

Brentwood Catholic Children’s Society

The school has close links with BCCS, fundraising several times a year and collecting donations during its carol service. The school also uses the services of BCCS.

The Brothers Trust

New Hall has raised money for The Brothers Trust, which supports charities that struggle to be heard and who best demonstrate the most effective use of funds to profit the people in need.

CAFOD (the official Catholic aid agency for England & Wales)

New Hall supports the work of CAFOD with fundraising events during the year and fast day lunches. The school also organises assemblies and talks about the work of CAFOD.

Catholic Association for Racial Justice (CARJ)

CARJ is a support and a voice for black and minority ethnic Catholics. CARJ also facilitates, encourages and empowers people of all backgrounds to work within the Catholic community, ecumenically and in the wider society for racial justice.

Cancer Research UK

New Hall hosted the Chelmsford Cancer Research UK Relay for Life event for the local community for two consecutive years, which raised over £100,000.

The Fairtrade Foundation

The school supports the work of The Fairtrade Foundation, selling a number of their products to students, staff and parents.

For Jimmy

The New Hall Good Hope Café was set up to raise awareness and funds for the For Jimmy charity. All donations go this fantastic cause and there are leaflets available for all visitors.

HCPT

The school takes an active role in an annual pilgrimage to Lourdes, where students and staff work as volunteer ‘handmaids’ or ‘brancardiers’ to assist and to care for the disabled. In 2018 a portion of the £1,700 raised by the NHVS Quiz Night was directed towards the cost of sending 3 children on a Pilgrimage holiday to Lourdes (with HCPT).

Helen Rollason Cancer Care Unit at Broomfield Hospital

The School raised £500 for the Helen Rollason Cancer Care Unit by staging a Staff v Students charity hockey match.

Kids Inspire

The 2018 Quiz Night was a resounding success raising £1,700, with a percentage of this providing the opportunity for up to 25 children to spend a fun-filled day at New Hall School in the summer (with Kids Inspire).

Macmillan Cancer Support

On Friday 27 September, the whole school took part in the World’s Biggest Coffee Morning to raise funds for Macmillan Cancer Support. Staff, students and parents baked and bought cakes and over £2,000 was raised by both the Preparatory and Senior Divisions.

Princess Alexandra Hospital (Breast Unit)

New Hall has raised funds to support the work of the the Breast Unit at the Princess Alexandra Hospital in Epping.

Shoebox Appeal

Every year, New Hall students and staff donate and prepare hundreds of shoeboxes with gifts, to be sent to Romania for Christmas.
