Winners of the 10 Shot Film Awards 2023

Date Posted: Wednesday 06 December 2023

In Trinity Term 2023, New Hall hosted Young Film Academy, the UK’s leading provider of film education for young people aged 6 to 19 years old, who delivered their One Day Film School  to a selection of our enthusiastic students interested in filmmaking. By the end of each day, our students had produced and directed their own short film, with fellow students as cast.

This year, the Young Film Academy held its inaugural 10 Shot Film Awards. In 2023, 125 leading UK schools hosted the One Day Film School. More than 1,000 films were made by over 10,000 Years 7-12 students, all entered into the awards. We are delighted to announce that one of our New Hall groups won the Years 7-9 Category for the movie “Prison Break”, directed by George P and edited by Callum W in Year 9.

Judged by Robin Kinsey, Vice President Marketing of Walt Disney Studios EMEA & UK – Marvel, Lucasfilm & 20th Century Studios, Ed Boase, Co-founder of Young Film Academy, and the Young Film Academy Youth Panel, the awards saw “Prison Break” securing the winning place in one of the two categories over hundreds of other films from young people around the UK.

The judges commented: “This well-crafted short film pays brilliant homage to Sergio Leone Westerns with a modern spin. The performances are superb, with inventive editing, and dynamic camera work which helps create real tension and claustrophobia. We were gripped throughout – Congratulations!”
