“Run, Run, Rudolph!” – Farleigh Hospice Reindeer Run

Date Posted: Wednesday 13 December 2023

Yesterday, as part of our Christmas events, the Preparatory Divisions came together to raise money for Farleigh Hospice through their Reindeer Run.

Farleigh Hospice is an Essex-based charity that provides hospice care to people affected by life-limiting illnesses and bereavement.

Adorned with antlers and Christmas jumpers, all 380 pupils and staff began their walk from the Prep playground down to The Avenue, our beautiful mile-long and historic entrance to the School, following the Prep Divisions’ own Santa Claus. Older Prep pupils were partnered with the younger Pre-Prep pupils to walk together and enjoy the festive fundraising, while the staff members spread the Christmas cheer by “singing loud for all to hear!”

The weather may have taken a turn while walking back up The Avenue, but the rain did not take away from the joy or stop the pupils from completing the course back to the Prep Divisions’ playground, via the rugby pitches.

Once back at the playground, the pupils were surprised with hundreds of white and burgundy balloons, the colours of Farleigh Hospice, and celebrated the end of their walk by running into them.

It was a wonderfully festive afternoon. Thank you to the two Farleigh Hospice volunteers who joined the Prep Divisions on the Reindeer Run, and to all those who made donations towards to charity; almost £1,400 was raised!
