This week, our Senior Leadership Team invited boarders from Dennett and Campion Houses to celebrate the opening of the first phase of New Hall’s Sixth Form Business & Languages Centre – the Sixth Form Silent Study area, whose concept is based on state-of-the-art university learning centres. A Year 12 boarder had the honour of cutting the ribbon to mark the opening. While final touches are in progress to get the Centre ready, we were eager to have this study area open for our Year 13 students as they prepare for their A Level examinations.

The facility certainly seemed to be welcomed by Sixth Form boarders, with one group marking it 10/10! Students say that the stylish, ergonomic chairs are the most comfortable that they have experienced. The rooms were designed with the Sixth Form students’ independent study and collaborative group work in mind; they benefit from the calm environment and view of our forest walk, and are equipped with air conditioning. The design of the first part of the centre was done in-house, with many of its features based on student feedback on how they would like to see the Sixth Form Business & Languages Centre develop. We look forward to the second phrase opening in September.
