New Hall Voluntary Service Christmas Luncheons

Date Posted: Friday 24 December 2021

During one week in Advent, we held our five New Hall Voluntary Service (NHVS) Christmas luncheons. Around 30 guests each day from our weekly NHVS groups returned to New Hall for the first time in nearly two years. The luncheons were an opportunity for our guests to catch up with each other and to start to build new connections with our NHVS prefects, adult helpers and staff. They were so pleased to be back, enjoying a full Christmas lunch, being served by Sixth Form students and adult volunteers and being entertained with Christmas songs from Prep Division choirs, before going back home with a Christmas hamper each. One of the guests, Roy, who is 86, cried as he returned and said that he had been having a really tough time recently – but the NHVS luncheon had brightened his life and he wanted to pass on his deepest thanks to the NHVS for having him in. We are proud and grateful for our students and adult helpers for supporting NHVS in this important work.
