Date Posted: Friday 10 January 2020

New Hall School’s Tennis Academy has been awarded the Education Venue of the Year award for Essex by the Lawn Tennis Association. Essex Tennis recognised the school’s extensive tennis programme at their annual AGM. Furthermore, New Hall tennis coaches Sam Bayda and Haland Kannor were both commended for their contribution in the coach of the year category.

New Hall School offers coaching to pupils aged 3-18 years olds, catering for all standards, from beginners through to regional and national squad level. The programme has six full-time tennis coaches and one strength and conditioning specialist who deliver an all-year round programme across ten hard-courts and an additional twelve Astroturf courts in the summer term. Numerous Senior and Preparatory Division Tennis teams hold various county titles and the Senior Tennis team finished tenth in the UK last year at the National Schools Tennis Championships in Nottingham. The School has represented England for tennis at the World School Summer Games in Morocco and is very proud to have helped four former students to achieve College Tennis Scholarships in the USA.

Head of Tennis, Mark Simpson-Crick collected the award at Redbridge and said, “It is an honour to receive this county award and to be recognised by the county LTA for all of the hard-work that the coaching team continually put into the tennis programme. We have an outstanding team of coaches who all create an engaging environment which encourages pupils to excel both on and off the court. We hope to build on this success and make 2020 an even greater year for our pupils, who can be excited about an upcoming trip to Wimbledon and an Easter training camp in Portugal.”
