New Hall Equestrian team become National Champions

Students from New Hall School returned from the National Schools Equestrian Association (NSEA) National Championships held at Addington Equestrian Centre, Buckinghamshire on 17 – 20 October as 80cm Jumping with Style (JWS) National Champions.


The 80 JWS team consisting of Albert Holland, Freya Ingham, Anna Lees and Charlotte Mackley beat 35 other teams from across the country to take the title. Michael Paveley, New Hall Director of Riding said, ‘I am delighted that the hard work in team practices over the weeks prior to the competition paid off with some very exciting results.’


The team also saw individual successes with Albert Holland competing individually in the 80cm JWS competition, finishing 8th from 57 starters. In the 90cm Showing Jumping class, Albert and his pony Milo, finished 7th out of over 90 starters in the first round, moving up in the final to produce a credible effort finishing in 5th place.
In the 70cm JWS class, Freya Ingham was just 0.81 seconds away from qualifying from the final in her first National Championships, finishing 16th out of 71 starters. Albert Holland and Alexia Mackley competed in the 1m JWS class, with both riders executing good performances with Albert finishing 6th and Alexia finishing 31st out of 60 starters.


Taking part in competitions at all levels throughout the year, alongside a successful academic programme, New Hall School provides excellent facilities and training for budding sports stars and fantastic music and performing arts provision. The Catholic boarding and day school for students aged 1-18 has a distinctive ‘diamond model structure’ and a strong ethos of pastoral care, which supports students in their endeavours, allowing them to achieve success in a wide variety of fields.
