New Hall Class of 2020 GCSE Results

Date Posted: Thursday 20 August 2020

Our Year 11 students are celebrating their GCSE results today.  We are proud of them all.

Principal, Katherine Jeffrey, said: “These students have had to overcome so much during these unprecedented times.  We are thrilled that they are receiving the results they have worked so hard for and deserve. I am full of admiration for the resilience and emotional maturity that these students have demonstrated over the last few months. They are a credit to the New Hall community. We also thank our dedicated teaching staff for the expertise, commitment and care that have helped to make these achievements possible.  I would also like to thank our parents, grandparents and guardians for their support for the young people and the School, helping to guide the students through these challenging times.”

73% of the GCSE grades awarded were at 7+ (A*/A), with 46% at 8+ and over 20% at 9.  Six students achieved ten or more grade 9s.  29 students achieved at least eight grade 8s. There were smiles all around underneath the masks and students were jumping for joy!

Head of Girls’ & Boys’ Division, Suzanna Minnis, said: “I am delighted to celebrate this achievement with our students and their families. These results reflect our students’ strong work ethic, aided by the support and guidance of our dedicated teachers. Our remote learning programme has been a huge success in ensuring that students stay in touch with their teachers and peers and feel supported during this challenging time, whilst continuing to thrive academically.”

Deputy Principal, Andrew Fardell, said: “We are so proud of this remarkable cohort of students and we congratulate them on their outstanding GCSE successes.   We now look forward to supporting them during the next chapter of their academic journey.”
