British Championships Bronze for swimmer Jack

Date Posted: Tuesday 20 September 2022

Deputy Head Boy Jack has secured a bronze medal at the British Swimming Championships and brought home the first ever national swimming medal for New Hall. He was on top form for the recent event in Sheffield, where he took the bronze medal in the 50m Backstroke for the 18 years age group and achieved personal bests in all of his five races.

As well as winning the 50m Backstroke, Jack swam his way into the finals of the 100m Backstroke, 200m Backstroke, 50m Freestyle and the 100m Freestyle. In each race, he was one of just 25 swimmers to qualify for the 7-day championships which are organised annually by British Swimming, the governing body of swimming in the UK.

Jennifer Rice, Head of Swimming at New Hall, who is a former international swimmer, said: “Jack trains for around 20 hours a week in the pool and the gym. His dedication to swimming is truly outstanding and this is a well-deserved result.”

Jack comments: “I’m delighted with my medal and my performance overall at this meet. Now I’m looking forward to heading to Sheffield again in December for the Swim England National Winter Championships and hope to make the finals and win another medal.”
