Year 11 students at New Hall School are celebrating GCSE results today: A quarter of all grades at New Hall were 8+ (A*) and 44% of all grades were 7+.

Principal, Katherine Jeffrey, commented: “I am so proud to be sharing this moment with our Year 11 students.  These fantastic results are testament to their hard work and dedication.  Our distinctive ‘Diamond Model’, with single-sex lessons for students aged 11-16, enables all our girls and boys to maximise their academic potential.”

Maria Webb, Head of Theology, said:

“It has been another brilliant year for New Hall.  In my subject alone, three students received full marks in Theology papers and 47 students achieved grade 8 or above.”

Individual successes:

Several of our Year 11 students achieved eight grade 8s or more.

Romilly is a boarder at New Hall and plays piano and drums, as well as grade 8 violin and oboe. She plays in the Orchestra, enjoys contemporary dance, studies Japanese and plays netball for New Hall.  Romilly achieved ten grade 9s and will be studying Latin, History and French at New Hall from September.  “The boarding environment at New Hall has given me so many great experiences, and an incredible level of support to help me achieve this set of grades.”

Henry loves all the opportunities at New Hall to extend and enrich his musicianship, develop his fascination in astronomy, and make the most of his exceptional talents in Mathematics.  He achieved eight grade 9s and three grade 8s, and is looking forward to studying Economics, Physics and Further Maths.  Henry commented: “The teachers have been so supportive, and without them, these grades wouldn’t be here today.”

Annabelle, who is a key member of New Hall Voluntary Service, takes part in debating, enjoys charity fundraising and loves helping others.  She achieved outstanding results including eight grade 9s and one grade 8, and will be taking Biology, Chemistry and Psychology A level.

Thalia is an outstanding hockey, netball, tennis, and football player. She achieved seven grade 9s, four grade 8s and grade A in her Higher Project Qualification, and is also greatly looking forward to A levels at New Hall.

Many of New Hall’s outstanding achievers are also boarding students. Dominic Neville, Vice Principal, commented: “Girls and boys who board at New Hall benefit so much from the excellent combination of co-curricular opportunities and outstanding academic support here, not just during the School day, but also every evening and at weekends.  Access to specialist staff can make such a difference for students at this stage in their academic career and it is wonderful to see our boarders achieve so well.  Congratulations to all our Year 11s and their teachers.”

New Hall School offers an outstanding education to girls and boys from 1 to 18.  Offering the perfect combination of academic support and breadth and quality of opportunity, New Hall gives all its students the very best start in life.

Head of Girls’ & Boys’ Divisions, Suzanna Minnis, said: “It is such a privilege to have seen these girls and boys develop and become the kind and brilliant young people they are today. They have worked so hard, and we are proud of them all.”
