New Hallian, Holly Haslam, wins the Junior European Golf Open

Congratulations to New Hallian, Holly Haslam, who has won the Junior European Golf Open. Holly, who left New Hall following her GCSEs to pursue a golfing career, won by seven shots and led the competition from day one, in a very strong field of competitors.

The Junior European Open, first staged in 1993 and now in its 26th year, is widely considered as the toughest test in junior golf across Europe. This year’s event was played in Marbella, Spain.

Notable finalists in previous years include former world number one, Luke Donald in 1993, the 2013 US Open Champion Justin Rose who was a finalist in 1994, and Georgia Hall who competed in the tournament and then went on to win the British Open. The tournament will be televised on 16 December on Sky Sports.

Mr Searle Head of Golf at New Hall, said: “It is a joy to celebrate Holly’s success, she should be very proud for achieving such an outstanding result. Holly has competed against the best players in her age group and it’s a really good benchmark of Holly’s professional game.”

Golf is an increasingly popular sport for girls and boys at New Hall. The New Hall golf team enters several of the Independent Schools Golf Association (ISGA) National one-day tournaments at U19 and U13 level. New Hall has also entered HMC Schools Golf tournaments for the last five years.
