Careers Education, Information, Advice and Guidance
New Hall School is working towards implementing all of the 8 Gatsby Benchmarks in line with the Statutory Guidance from the DfE on Careers Guidance and Access for Education and Training Providers (2018). We aim to ensure our students and parents receive the resources and support required along with impartial information, advice and guidance, which enables our students to be in a great position for the future.
IAG is available to all students, ensuring they are supported with their progression throughout their time at New Hall. This includes completing the following activities to enhance their research, preparation and decision making:
- Centigrade Careers Questionnaire (Year 12)
- Access to PathwayCTM (Year 12 & 13)
- Attending National Apprenticeship Show, UCAS Exhibition and UK University and Apprenticeship Search Fair (Year 12 & 13)
- Promotion of optional work experience (Year 12)
- Access to UNIFROG system (Year 12 & 13)
- Annual Careers Fair supporting experiences of meeting skilled professional, employers, college, university and apprenticeship representatives (All years)
Additional Resources
Firefly resource pages are accessible for students, and these can be found under Resources > Student > Careers. The Firefly pages include a range of information on work experience opportunities, university open and taster days, careers events, personal statement and CV templates, useful web links and more.
A proportion of careers is covered across PSHEE lessons; during these lessons various research activities will be completed to enable students to gain knowledge on areas they will need to research and be prepared for.
A variety of guest speakers for lessons and assemblies will be arranged throughout the academic year to help Year 12 and 13 prepare for their post-18 options.
The School works very closely with external partners to provide students a wealth of support and information when making decisions in Sixth Form.
Careers Programme and Policy
New Hall has a Careers Programme in place for the Sixth Form students in both Year 12 and 13. Along with a policy outlining our commitment to provide clear and up to date Careers Education, Information, Advice and Guidance (CEIAG). We will review the Careers Programme and Policy annually to ensure the students receive the best possible and most up to date CEIAG.
