In Year 7, Students experience six week blocks of the following sports; Swimming, Athletics, Fitness, Gymnastics, Dance, Striking skills( this includes tennis, cricket, rounders and softball). The emphasis is on learning basic skills and tactics.
In Years 8 and 9, students learn definitions, keywords and concepts that are introduced in more detail in the GCSE course. Badminton and Basketball are other practical options. In Years 10-11, Students can choose to take GCSE Physical Education and will follow the Edexcel course.
This includes two theory papers; Fitness and Body Systems and Health and performance, a Personal Exercise Training programme and 3 practical sports.
Core sports will also include Handball, Volleyball, Invasion games and Dodgeball.
In Years 12 and 13, Students have the option to follow the OCR AS and A2 Physical Education course. Students study Anatomy and Physiology, Psychology and Contemporary sporting issues as well as deliver a EAPI verbal presentation and one practical sport at moderation.
