Careers
New Hall School is working towards implementing all of the 8 Gatsby Benchmarks in line with the Statutory Guidance from the DfE on Careers Guidance and Access for Education and Training Providers (2018). We ensure the Careers Information Advice and Guidance (IAG) provision is the most compliant and best quality. We ensure our students and parents receive the resources and support required along with impartial information, advice and guidance, which enables our students to be in a great position for the future.
IAG is available to all students, ensuring they are supported with their progression throughout their time at New Hall. This includes completing the following activities to enhance their research, preparation and decision making:
- Fast Tomato Careers Questionnaire (Year 9)
- Morrisby Careers Questionnaire (Year 10)
- Work Experience (Year 11)
- Access to UNIFROG system (Year 11)
- Annual Careers Fair supporting experiences of meeting skilled professional, employers, college, university and apprenticeship representatives (All years)
Additional Resources
Parents can contact their child’s tutor for information, advice and guidance to help their children make informed and realistic decisions.
Firefly resource pages are accessible for students, and these can be found under Resources > Student > Careers. The Firefly pages include a range of information on work experience opportunities, taster/insight and open days, careers events, CV, cover letter and personal statement templates, useful web links and more.
A proportion of careers is covered across PSHEE lessons; during these lessons various research activities will be completed to enable students to gain knowledge on areas they will need to cover in the future.
A variety of guest speakers for lessons and assemblies will be arranged throughout the academic year to help senior division year students understand employment and the opportunities available to them.
The School works very closely with external partners to provide students a wealth of support and information when making decisions in senior years.
Careers Programme and Policy
New Hall has a Careers Programme in place for the Senior Divisions from Year 7 to Year 11. Along with a policy outlining our commitment to provide clear and up to date Careers Education, Information, Advice and Guidance (CEIAG). We will review the Careers Programme and Policy annually to ensure the students receive the best possible and most up to date CEIAG.
