Brentwood Catholic Children’s Society
The school has close links with BCCS, fundraising several times a year and collecting donations during its carol service. The school also uses the services of BCCS.
CAFOD (the official Catholic aid agency for England & Wales)
New Hall supports the work of CAFOD with fundraising events during the year and fast day lunches. The school also organises assemblies and talks about the work of CAFOD.
Cancer Research UK
New Hall hosted the Chelmsford Cancer Research UK Relay for Life event for the local community for two consecutive years, which raised over £100,000.
Canonesses of the Holy Sepulchre, Rwanda
New Hall students fundraise during Lent every year in support of the Literacy Centre being built in Rwanda by the sister community of the founding Religious Community of New Hall.
The Democratic Republic of the Congo
New Hall Preparatory School’s sister school in the Democratic Republic of the Congo benefits from fundraising by New Hall. Students from New Hall Preparatory School write to students at the school in the Congo and send gifts throughout the year. Sisters from the school in the Congo regularly visit New Hall Preparatory School to speak to students about their school.
Headway – The Brain Injury Association
New Hall students’ chosen charity for 2016/17:
New Directions is a charity set up by New Hallian Conor Moylan and will be supported by the school during the 2016/17 year.
The Fairtrade Foundation
The school supports the work of The Fairtrade Foundation, selling a number of their products to students, staff and parents.
The school takes an active role in an annual pilgrimage to Lourdes, where students and staff work as volunteer ‘handmaids’ or ‘brancardiers’ to assist and to care for the disabled. In 2014/15, a donation of £750 enabled the school to sponsor a disabled child from Woodlands School to go on this life-changing week-long pilgrimage to France.
Help For Heroes
A bake sale was organised by boarding students in Dennett House to raise funds for Help for Heroes.
Marie Curie Cancer Trust
The ‘Wear a Daffodil’ appeal was supported in March 2015.
Macmillan Cancer Support
On Friday 25 September, the whole school took part in the World’s Biggest Coffee Morning to raise funds for Macmillan Cancer Support. Staff, students and parents baked and bought cakes and a total of £2,268.54 was raised by both the Preparatory and Senior Divisions.
The Movember Foundation
Members of staff were sponsored to grow moustaches during ‘Movember’.
A used stamp collection box was placed in Reception to support the work of the RNIB.
Every year, New Hall students and staff donate and prepare hundreds of shoeboxes with gifts, to be sent to Romania for Christmas.
