Tennis at New Hall

New Hall students have the opportunity to develop their tennis skills with qualified LTA coaches. New Hall has some very strong tennis players with many students holding strong LTA ratings at both a county and national level. The New Hall tennis programme is designed to cater for both these players and also total beginners. Students are offered the opportunity to improve their tennis skills through group lessons, PE Lessons and private tennis lessons. The more advanced students are also picked for the teams and the tennis academy squads who train on a weekly basis.

The teams compete in local and national competitions which include the LTA Aegon Senior Students competition, LTA Aegon National Schools competitions at both U13 and U15 level, the prestigious Glanvill and Aberdere Cup Competitions and the Independent Schools League and National Championships which are held annually at Eton College.

Students have the chance to develop their tennis skills in a unique setting all year round. New Hall tennis facilities include 10 floodlit tennis courts and in the Trinity Term an additional 12 flood-lit Astro courts which allow for play all year round.

New Hall Tennis Academy

The New Hall Tennis Academy is designed to appeal to players of county to national standard who show a high level of commitment towards their tennis, whilst still allowing some flexibility for them to participate in academic life in the school. At New Hall we understand that achieving high level success in the sport becomes increasingly difficult as children go through their academic studies. High levels of educational achievement are important both for the individual and for the continued success of the school. This scheme would allow New Hall to offer a high standard of education whilst still meeting the needs of high performing tennis players. We aim to become one of the top National tennis schools, helping to produce players of a national and international level.

From September 2011 we will link with Compete Tennis based at Redbridge Sports Centre which is the Essex High Performance Centre for Tennis. This will allow the students flexibility to train in an indoor centre all year round whilst maintaining the level of education.
