Sweeney Todd - Michaelmas Term 2012

The Upper School production of Sweeney Todd on 8, 9 and 10 December 2011 was fantastic.  Every seat in the  Eaton Theatre was taken across the three nights as parents, students, staff and members of the public enjoyed a haunting performance of the Stephen Sondheim classic.  To see photographs of the performance, go to the Gallery page here.

Hansel & Gretal (Years 7 & 8) and Socialism is Great (Years 10 - 13) - Lent Term 2012

During the Lent Term, there were two performances by students at New Hall, with the lower years featuring in 'Hansel & Gretal', adapted by Carol Ann Duffy and dramatised by Tim Supple, and the upper years featuring in 'Socialism is Great', by Anders Lustgarten.

The students' performance of Socialism is Great was part of the National Theatre’s Connections project.  The National Theatre commissioned ten new plays, written for a cast and audience of young people, and 200 groups from across the country took part.  New Hall School students performed their version both at New Hall and at The Playhouse in Norwich.  One production of each play will be selected to perform on the National Theatre’s stage in July – so fingers crossed!

Photos of both performances are available on the Gallery page.

Troy - Trinity Term 2012

The next production will be Troy, by students in Years 7-9, on Wednesday 9 - Friday 11 May 2012 at New Hall School.  Troy is an adaptation of Homer’s Iliad, telling the story of events from the middle of the Trojan War. Performed by 50 students from Years 7-9, Troy features well-known heroes such as Achilles, Odysseus, Hector and, of course, Helen of Troy.
