Boarding
New Hall offers a first-class boarding experience for girls and boys aged 7-18. There are 4 boarding houses: Hawley House for girls aged 7-16; Earle House for boys aged 7-16; Dennett House for girls aged 16-18; and Campion House for boys aged 16-18. Around one third of the Senior School students are full or weekly boarders i.e. 240 students for the academic year 2009-10. Many other students are flexi-boarders, staying overnight for 1-3 nights per week.
New Hall is unusual in offering single study bedrooms for most boarders. Some younger boarders prefer to share in rooms of 2-6. However, from Year 9 upwards, boarders generally have single rooms. All rooms are well-equipped, with modern furnishings and internet access.
All students benefit from the exceptional pastoral structure whereby students of the same gender and age group belong to the same boarding house, whether or not they are boarders or day students. At New Hall, therefore, there is full integration of boarding and day students. Day students are welcome to join the extensive extra-curricular weekday and weekend programme that runs every day in term time. All students benefit from being cared for by an extensive and expert pastoral team that includes tutors, Heads of Year, Housemistresses/masters and other house staff.
