Year 9 Student Climbs Kilimanjaro for Charity

Congratulations to Edward Fenton (Year 9) who climbed Mount Kilimanjaro in Tanzania last week to raise money for the Teenage Cancer Trust. Edward completed the climb with his father Paul, and they both reached Africa’s highest Uhuru peak of 19,340 feet by the less used, remoter, northern Rongai route in just 4 ½ days.

Edward did extremely well under harsh conditions; suffering from intense sickness which almost prevented him from completing the climb. Despite this, Edward battled through temperatures dropping to -20C and reached Gillmans Point (18,700ft) at 8.00am.  After a further one and a half hours through snow and ice, Edward finally reached the 19,340 ft summit.

Edward has so far raised over £3,000 and is very grateful to all sponsors.
