Inspired by their chalk pastel drawings from earlier in the term, Year 5 pupils worked on sketches to design their own teapots. Following a lively demonstration from Jackie Kilpin, our visiting artist, they have spent the last few weeks creating imaginative teapots out of clay.
Fashioning shapes from fruits to cupcakes, many challenges have been faced learning how to add patterns, detail in relief or moulding a spout and handle that will actually stay on the pot! Painted in carefully chosen and mixed hues, and all glazed over, teapots are ready to take home just in time for Easter.

To complete their focus on Fairtrade within the Creative Curriculum studies this term, Year 5 pupils rolled up their sleeves to hone their DT skills making shortbread cookies using as many Fairtrade products as possible. Preceded by writing instructions in their English lesson, they ensured that all the correct utensils and ingredients were correctly assembled, with instructions in good chronological order for them to follow their mouth-watering recipes as they worked together in Beaulieu.
