Studying Particles in Class

Year 7 students have been learning about the science of particles in Chemistry this half term. Gifted & Talented students were treated to an in depth study of temperature and its effects on particle behaviour by looking at liquid nitrogen. Students had the opportunity to experience temperatures as low as -200°C! Activities including producing solid carbon dioxide, boiling in cold conditions and freezing bananas helped students to re-assess their understanding of key scientific terms. Very few schools in the country are able to provide this hands-on experience for their students.
