Ski Trip to Tignes, French Alps

Students from Years 10, 11 and 13 visited Tignes in the French Alps for a week of skiing before Christmas. The high altitude gave plenty of snow and blue skies, which provided a perfect setting for the 30 hours of ski instruction which the students received. Many students competed in a slalom race on the final day, with Ellen Royce (Year 13) achieving the top award. Out of the beginners, special mention should go to Harry Gannon (Year 11) who managed some difficult red runs, which is remarkable for his first adventure on snow! The bowling night gave students an opportunity to show their finesse on firmer footing and this was won by the Year 10 boys, with an outstanding performance from Julien Hamilton-Villemur. The return journey was a character building experience, as the snowy conditions in the UK forced an overnight stay in Newcastle. Thank you to Mrs Clarke, Mr Crosby, Mrs Fletcher, Mrs Johnson, Mr Shah and all the students for making the trip such a success. The next ski trip is to Alpe D’Huez during the Easter break with Year 8-9 boys so watch this space for tales of their adventures!
