On 3 February, 90 students in Years 9, 10 and 11 took part in the UK Mathematics Trust Intermediate Maths Challenge. Congratulations to the 4 students who achieved a gold award, the 18 students who achieved a silver award and the 22 students who achieved a bronze award. There were several notable achievements from individual students who took part. Pippa O’Riley (Year 9) achieved the highest result in the school and secured both a gold award and a place in the Olympiad competition, which is for the top 400 students nationwide in each year group. Both Kelvin Man (Year 11) and Tony Qu (Year 9) have progressed through to the Kangaroo competition for their respective year groups, which is for the next 1,500 students who did not make it into the Olympiad competition. Over 600,000 students take part in the Intermediate Maths Challenge and New Hall students achieve outstanding results year on year.
