Riding
New Hall riders had a successful time at their first National Schools’ Championships. The event took place at the South of England Showground and was run over two days during half term.
On the first day, Maddie Taylor was placed 8th in the Warm-Up class and came 10th in the Individual Novice Championship, riding Amesbury Divine.
The second day was the Intermediate Team event. In the Warm-Up class, Maddie came 5th on Lofts Simply Red and Annabel Schwier came 15th on Mr. Scruffy.
For the team event, there were 15 obstacles to be jumped in a course that mixed cross-country jumps with coloured show jumps. There was an optimum time for the cross-country as well as marks for jumping style, making this an even tougher challenge for the riders than just clearing the jumps. Charlotte Sporton on Bracken, Katie Hamilton on Miss China Black, Annabel Schwier on Mr. Scruffy and Maddie Taylor on Lofts Simply Red all rode with great determination and were rewarded with 6th place out of a field of 19 all of whom had had to go through qualifying rounds to even be there..
