    NEW HALL SUCCESS IN LANGUAGES

Principal, Katherine Jeffrey, said: “At a time when pupils in many schools are dropping languages at an early age, the New Hall Modern Languages and Classics Departments flourish. Some individual students have achieved top grades in three languages, such as Teresa Miller de Vega, Year 11, and Sofia von Stieglitz, Year 10, who both achieved 3A*s in French, German and Spanish.”

A number of bright linguists at New Hall have achieved A*s at GCSE up to 4 years early. In one family, Jany Budahn, Year 11, gained an A* in French, her younger sister Tara, aged 13, achieved A* in German, and her younger brother Arun, aged just 12, achieved A* in German. Camille Hamilton-Villemur, aged 14, achieved A* in French 2 years early and Amelie Hahne, aged 15, gained an A* in German one year early.

100% of GCSE grades this year in Chinese and Latin were at A* or A.

Charlotte achieved four AS Levels including a B in Latin. Annabel Brown, Director of Marketing and PR, was also interviewed and said: “New Hall is one of the few schools that still recognises the importance of Latin in an academic curriculum. It is taught to all students from Year 3 to Year 9, which means that everyone has the opportunity to choose the subject at GCSE and A Level.”

New Hall School has recently expanded to an overall roll of 850 pupils, including a Boys’ Division for 11-16 year olds and a large co-educational Sixth Form. A fourth Boarding House opened in 2006 for boys.
