Curriculum
The New Hall curriculum is academically challenging and inspiring, offering each individual the opportunity to realise his or her potential. Students learn within a stimulating environment that nurtures talent and ability in all areas of the curriculum.
Key Stage 3 (Years 7 - 9, ages 11 - 13)
All students study: art, biology, chemistry, cookery, design & technology, drama & LAMDA, English, French, geography, history, ICT, Latin & classics, mathematics, music, PE & sport, PSHE (personal, social and health education) physics, religious education and Spanish (from Year 8).
Key Stage 4 (Years 10 - 11, ages 14 - 16)
Core Subjects
All students study the following subjects at GCSE: English, English literature, mathematics, science (double or triple award), religious studies, ICT, French and/or Spanish. They also follow courses in careers, PSHE and sport.
GCSE Option Subjects
Students may choose from: art, business studies, drama, geography, history, Latin, music, PE and photography.
Sixth Form
A Level Option Subjects
Most students study 4 subjects, with many also taking critical thinking at AS Level. Students can choose from a wide range of AS and A Level subjects: art, biology, business studies, classical civilisation, chemistry, critical thinking, drama & theatre studies, economics, English literature, French, further mathematics,geography, government & politics, Ancient Greek, history, ICT, Latin, mathematics, music, PE, religious studies (philosophy & ethics), photography, physics, psychology and Spanish.
For students fluent in other modern languages, specialist teaching is available, which may enable an A Level to be taken in the following subjects: Chinese, Croatian, German, Italian and Polish.
Core Curriculum
All students follow courses in careers, general religious education, sport and PSHE. In Year 13, students follow a course entitled ‘menu for life’, which is designed to prepare them for
