Our Ethos

New Hall has a Catholic foundation and ethos and welcomes all who support that ethos. Students of different faiths and traditions belong to our community and we believe that everyone benefits from the values of trust and respect that are central to our school life.

Students attend a weekly Chapel assembly, school Masses on special occasions and, if they wish, the weekday Mass. Boarders attend Sunday Mass, where they are joined by local parishioners. Students participate in the planning of liturgies and take active roles in various ministries as servers, readers and musicians. A lively Chaplaincy provides a wide range of activities which students may choose to join.

There is a strong tradition of choral singing. The Chapel’s acoustics richly enhance the fine church music that is performed there.

The school encourages self-discipline and a sense of responsibility. Teamwork and a spirit of service to others are at the heart of the school. A sense of community is fostered at New Hall through its award-winning and nationally recognised organisation, the New Hall Voluntary Service (NHVS).
