Cross Country Report
On Tuesday, 6 March the Cross Country team travelled to Wix Equestrian Centre to compete in the Deanery Cross Country event. After the Girls’ Race, everyone was stunned as the positions were: 1st Charlotte Burnham, 2nd Elizabeth Nelmes, 3rd Gabriella Oxlade with the rest of the girls all being placed in the top 20. The boys also did very well with Daniel Cotton placed 2nd, Joshua Jones 3rd, Justin Smith 4th, Samuel Brown 5th and all members of the team also finishing in the top 20. The overall scores meant that New Hall won the event for the second year running! Well done to everyone who took part and thank you to all the parents who came along to support us.

Cross Country Report
Report by Mr Fannon

The New Hall team performed admirably at the cross country meeting in pleasant conditions at Chelmer Park last Thursday. There were strong performances from newcomers and veterans alike in all of the four races with New Hall achieving second and third team positions in the majority of the categories.

The Year 5 girls’ team performed well with some excellent efforts from an inexperienced team. Katie Ellis, Tegan Hockaday and Chloe O’Hare provided a formation finish coming home in a 25th, 26th and 27th position whilst Tilly-Joy Makins capped a solid team effort finishing 53rd giving the team second place.

The boys’ team also ran solidly finishing in third place overall. Daniel Cotton (10th) was the first New Hall runner home, followed by Justin Smith (23rd), Samuel Makins (46th) and Elliot Moule (49th).

The Year 6 girls provided the best team score of the day amongst the New Hall teams as the trio of Charlotte Burnham (7th), Elizabeth Nelmes (9th) and Gabriella Oxlade (10th) all performed strongly, all with top 10 finishes. Isobel Ovenden came in a creditable 38th to give the team a score of 64 and a strong second place finish.

Joshua Jones starred in the Year 6 boys’ race, finishing in 3rd position to claim a well deserved bronze medal. Samuel Brown (30th), Sam Odell (37th) and Darius Roohi (69th) completed the scoring which meant the team finished just outside the top three places.

New Hall collect another trophy!

On Tuesday, 7 March the Cross Country team took part in the Deanery Cross Country Event at Wix. It was another wet, soggy day – perfect conditions for cross country. The team worked as a mixed team in two races. Inez Hockaday finished 1st, Charlotte Burnham 2nd, Elizabeth Nelmes 4th, Imogen Ovenden 5th, Alexandra Marler 7th and Naomi Morgan 8th. A great result!

In the boys’ race, Joshua Jones came in 2nd, Daniel Cotton 8th, Edmund Lucas 10th, George Climie 18th, Conor McCaffrey 23rd and Darius Roohi in 24th.

When all the scores were added together, we were delighted to have won the trophy for the second year running – what an end to the season! Congratulations to everyone who took part.
