New Hall Chess Tournament

New Hall hosted its annual chess tournament on Saturday 13, October, in conjunction with the Essex Junior Chess Association.
This tournament was the first of four tournaments that form in the Essex Grand Prix. I was pleased to welcome 62 competitors, who were drawn from all parts of the county to compete in 6 rounds of chess. From this event, over 15 qualified for the London Junior Chess Championships, which are to be held in December at the University of Westminster. Congratulations to all those who took part, including New Hall students: Jose Antonio Olivas, Daniel Centeno and Elliot Moule.
