Cabaret Review

DR1 was transformed into a Cabaret Club on Wednesday, 17 October for performances of Music from Stage and Screen.
Opening the show, the Studio Orchestra performed pieces including the theme tune to the Thunderbirds and Gabriel’s Oboe from The Mission, with oboe solo from the talented Coralie Smart, Year 10.
There was a wonderful range of vocal solos from: Emma Russell and Alice Fox, Year 9; Sophie Arnott, Kayleigh McEvoy and Lara-Jayne Ellice, Year 10; and Charlotte Brice and Elspeth Lewis-Taylor, Year 13.
Items were interspersed with performances from the professional Jazz Trio who accompanied the evening, led by peripatetic music teacher, Mr Edwards. In addition, a rendition was given of the theme from the motion picture Forrest Gump, played by Year 7 Music Scholar, Lauren Twigg.
The evening ended with 3 upbeat songs performed by the Year 7 girls’ choir, which were met with great appreciation. The evening raised £256 for the Chapel Organ Appeal. Many thanks to all for a fun and enjoyable evening!
