Dominic
Morris (Year 11) has gained selection for the full England U16 rugby team.
He has matches on 1 April against Italy at Lichfield and 6 April against Wales
at Oxford University’s ground. This accolade puts Dominic in the top 22
boys in the country in his age group for rugby.
Director
of Sport at New Hall School, Shaun Winsor, said: “This is a huge achievement
for Dominic and we congratulate him on the hard work he has put in to achieve
the honour of playing for his country. We wish him all the best for his
forthcoming matches.
New
Hall students are no strangers to national representative honours; last year
former student George Perkins played rugby for England in matches against
Scotland, Canada and Wales and other students have represented England in
hockey, swimming, equestrian and ice-skating.
Dominic
Morris, from Hatfield Peverel said: “I am proud to be representing England and
hope I can remember all I have learnt for the matches. I am very grateful to
the staff at New Hall School for all their support in getting me this far and
to my team mates at New Hall who have always made playing rugby so much fun.”
Dominic
comes from a rugby background; his older brother Sean has played for England
and his younger brother Oliver (Year 9) is following in their footsteps and
currently looking forward to a New Hall School rugby exchange trip to South
Africa for a whole term, later in the year.
